Yogurting's new era is just around the corner.

Octet, an all-new Yogurting game server emulator, is on a mission to enhance the game’s current capabilities and restore features that have been absent since the game’s support ended.

One of the guiding principles of the development process is compatibility. The same Score XML scripts written initially for Quartet will work seamlessly on Octet, and additional schema features will enrich player's experience.

Database migration

Existing Quartet servers can transition to Octet without any loss of player data - the Octet Transition tool will take care of this for you.

Octet's fundamental task is to reimplement episodes.

These episodes are being implemented using a scripting language and are being recreated bit by bit using existing gameplay footage.

Thanks to the engagement of community, we’ve managed to preserve footage of 110 unique episodes, including 60 gameplay videos. This gives a good chance of recreating at least some part of it.

Permission management

Octet features an expanded Permissions system. Server operators can modify which commands player groups can execute, and even which game actions they can perform.

Multilingual support

Octet is capable of supporting multiple languages simultaneously. Along with translated CLI, chat messages, or episodes, server operators can easily adapt NPC dialogues to the language used by each player.

Ideally, the player would choose the language while registering an account on the server’s website. It will also be possible to set the language using the /lang command or to have NPC dialogues change the player’s language based on their choice.

Depending on the preferences of the server operator, Octet will be able to check for updates and even perform an automatic update on a running instance.

Updates will focus on stablity improvements, adding new episodes and possibly restoring further features of the game.

Each change will be detailed in the change log, which will be displayed on this website in the future.

The release of Octet is slated for the first half of 2024. It’s designed to be a long-term solution and needs to be well-prepared.
